Applying for Your Esso Card™

  1. How do I start my application? Simply click the ‘Apply for an Esso Card™’ button within your Checkatrade member area. You will then receive an automated email with a link to set up your account and finalize your application.
  2. How long does the application take? The online setup is quick and straightforward, typically taking between 5 to 8 minutes to complete.
  3. How many cards can I order? You can request as many Esso Cards as your business requires. Whether you are a sole trader or have a fleet of vehicles, we’ve got you covered.
  4. When will my cards arrive? Once your application is submitted and approved, your physical cards will arrive by mail within 5 to 7 working days.
  5. When will I receive my PIN? To ensure your account remains secure, your PINs are sent separately from your Esso Cards™. You should expect to receive two separate envelopes in the post: one containing your card(s) and another containing your PIN(s).

💰 Costs and Savings

 

  1. Are there any member fees? No. One of your exclusive Checkatrade benefits is that there are no setup fees, no monthly fees, and no minimum terms. You only pay for the fuel you use.
  2. How much will I save on fuel? Esso Stations: Members save an average of 5p per litre on Esso Synergy fuels. At BP & Shell Stations: You can also use your card here to save 0.06p per litre.Note: Savings are subject to market fluctuations.
  3. How do I know what price I’m paying? To help you manage your budget, you will receive your fuel price notification every Friday for the following week.
  4. What are the payment terms? The Esso Card operates on Weekly +7 payment terms, giving you predictable cash flow management.

🛠 Managing Your Account

 

  1. What is the Velocity portal? Velocity is your online command center. Once you are a customer, you’ll get login details that allow you to: Order additional cards, Cancel lost or stolen cards immediately, Download and view all previous invoices.
  2. How does this help with my admin and taxes? All invoices provided through the Velocity portal are fully HMRC-compliant. This eliminates the need to collect paper receipts and makes VAT reclaiming simple, allowing you to focus more on your trade and less on paperwork.

  1. Where can I use my Esso Card™? Your card is accepted at over 3,600 stations across the UK. This includes all Esso-branded service stations (where you get the biggest savings), as well as all BP and Shell stations.
